Disability isn’t a lack of ability, it’s a mismatch between a person’s abilities and their environment.

As educators, we should provide a learning environment that can be adapted for most students. It can be achieved by using multimedia such as images, videos, and podcasts.
Usually, when we get a pdf format lecture note, it is less accessible for us to edit on the pdf like taking notes and highlighting. For me, I will use some note-taking APPs such as Notability. It can allow me not only to take extra detailed notes and highlight the text but also add images and recorded sound clips.
This can allow students to have wider accessibility to editing the lecture notes and success in class.

Hi,
I totally agree that as educators we should encourage a space that is adaptable to all different forms of learning environments. As well, I am a big fan of Notability – for someone that is visual I find the different usage of colors through highlighting or adding/removing content and making it fit the learning style that works best for individuals! It’s been such a useful tool to encourage a better form of learning.
Hi Steven,
Similar to last week’s comment, I resonate with your note taking practices as a visual learner myself. One idea that came to mind is that it seems like there is an inequitable access to tablets, and laptops due to the digital divide that limit some individuals from experiencing online/digital note-taking, and I can’t help but wonder how having access to these tools would affect some individual’s learning in the long run…
Great blog once again 🙂
